Why I became a therapist

I absolutely love being a therapist! Being a therapist has allowed me to hone in on what I enjoy most, which is connecting with others and hearing their stories. Every individual is unique in what they have experienced and how those experiences have shaped them and I feel honored to be allowed into my clients’ world. I want people to know that while therapy can be challenging at times, it can also be incredibly meaningful and enjoyable. Through empathy, humor and unconditional positive regard I strive to work with my clients to navigate this often confusing world together.

Who I work with

I have experience working with adults, adolescents, couples, and families from a wide range of diverse backgrounds. I specialize in treating both adult and childhood trauma as well as relationship concerns, anxiety and depression. I especially enjoy working with young adults through all that they experience and ongoing changes in their lives.  I also enjoy working with couples who are navigating life challenges and milestone changes with the goal of achieving better understanding towards one another and greater connectedness. I also specialize in working with adolescents individually and with their families and have experience with coaching parents and being a support for them.

Working With Me

I believe that one of the most significant and impactful parts of the therapeutic process is the relationship between myself and my clients. I strive to create a non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable discussing all aspects of their lives. I utilize a collaborative approach while also incorporating a psychoanalytic lens in order to help my clients identify patterns and events that contribute to difficulties and maladaptive behaviors.  I also incorporate aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing in our work together. I  also like to provide my clients with growth centered and  psychoeducational building blocks around coping strategies and stress management to better facilitate meaningful change.

I also value and think it is important to be mindful of aspects surrounding diversity and  inclusion, family relationship patterns, generational stability, communication skills and attachment. Ultimately, I hope that our work together allows you to feel more empowered, gain a better sense of self and learn skills that you can carry with you throughout life!
