Hi! I’m Savannah, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. Since I can remember, I have always wanted to support and guide people into living their most fulfilling lives. I am drawn to hearing people’s different narratives and experiences and believe there is power in every person’s story. Growing up, a few of my relatives worked in the mental health field and I felt drawn to not only join the field but fight the stigma that goes against it. One thing that always stuck with me is the metaphor of therapy being like undoing a knotted ball of yarn. Life is filled with tangles and knots just like a ball of yarn. When you’re in it, it can feel hard to undo it on your own. The therapeutic relationship is there to support you in undoing the tangles so that you can feel freed, empowered and understood in order to live your life to its potential.
Primarily I see individuals, children, adolescents and young adults/adults clients. I work with folks who may be experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, identity challenges, low self-esteem, relationship concerns (familial, friendship, romantic etc.) and those struggling in different areas of life like the “quarter life crisis.” I also have a background in working with folks struggling with OCD and complex anxiety. Additionally, I focus on attachment issues and family dynamics as they present for my clients. I want to create a healing space for folks of different backgrounds as well as provide culturally competent, trauma-informed and social justice focused care.
It’s important to recognize that taking the steps to begin therapy can feel difficult or come with a lot of unknown. That's why it is an honor for me to work with my clients and foster a space that is non-judgmental, warm, safe, and collaborative. I view the therapeutic relationship as very sacred and one that allows people to explore areas of life that may be challenging or new. My intentions for my clients are not only for them to feel supported and validated but also to feel inspired to set goals and allow for self-exploration.
I use an integrative approach rooted in humanistic, relational and attachment theories while also using evidence-based approaches like Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT). For my younger clients, I may incorporate play therapy as needed. For all clients, I incorporate empathy, compassion, creativity and humor.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Carthage College.
I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
