Substance Use Recovery Group

From a Harm Reduction and Mindfulness Framework

Overview

This group is open to adults age 21+ who need support around their substance use. Group members will be supported in setting both short-term and long-term goals for themselves that range anywhere from reducing use to remaining sober from some or all substances.

Purpose and Goals of this group

Hi, My name is Zoe! The purpose of this group is to create a space that allows people to show up authentically and honestly discuss their substance use. Members of similar groups I have facilitated have shared that in many sobriety-only substance use groups, they are unable to share honestly which creates more shame and stigma around use. This group allows for individualized goal setting that meets clients where they are at to reduce the harm in their lives. The use of mindfulness helps group members to not only ground themselves in the space, but to take home additional coping skills.

I hope members gain a sense of community, knowledge of harm reduction, additional coping skills, and the achievement of their goals on their substance use & healing journeys.
